Title: The climat of Bénin

Arsène - Hello, Léopold.

Léopold - Hello, Arsène.

A - Um, I want to go on vacation to your country, Bénin.

L - Yes.

A - And, I would like to know what the climate is like, what time of year , um, would you recommend I go there.

L - Oh, I would have liked to know more precisely, if you wish to visit my country... and, it's good, let's say, um, during the dry period. Well, then, you won't really regret it. But if it's right in the middle of the um, of the rainy season... ..well, then sometimes there are rains that last for at least two days, and really, the roads are ruined, and it's not always interesting to come then. So, I prefer that you come, um..let's say, during the dry season. That is, during the season that you would call summer. Um, you'll have virtually no problem at all.

A - But I have also heard of a phenomenon called Armatan; [yes] what is it?

L - Yes, the Armatan, well, it's, um.. a wind that is both dry and humid that comes from the Sahara. And, that has some climatic effects... on the countries of the western coast. So, um sometimes you're cold and sometimes you're hot. And, those who live way up north, um... experience..um..these conditions, well, this variety ... of climatic conditions. And in the south, it's not really the same.

A - But when does it..it happen..when does the Armatan blow?

L - Um, oftentimes it blows at the end of November... Um, beginning of December..it can last the whole month of December. And it varies according to the year, because if there are moments when there are climatic disturbances... ..then the Armatan can , um, sometimes last until March.

A - Thank you very much.

L - You're welcome.
