Congratulations to the DepartmentÕs two teaching award winners!  Ph.D. candidate Megumi Hamada has been selected as the 2005 winner of the H&SS Graduate Student Teaching Award.  Anne Green, Teaching Professor of German, is the winner of the 2004-2005 Elliott Dunlap Smith Award Ņfor distinguished teaching and educational serviceÓ.  Congratulations to both Megumi and Anne.

 

Ph. D. recipient Hisae Fujiwara has accepted a position in the Program in Japanese Studies at the University of California, San Diego, beginning in Fall 2005.  Japanese faculty member Yasumi Kuriya has accepted a position in the East Asian Studies Department at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.  Best wishes to both Hisae and Yasumi.
