Little Magna Charta

It is my wish
to be able to move freely
as a free person among free people.
I want to live
free from the fear of the terror
to which man subjects his fellow man.
Free of arrogance
and free of subservience,
I want to pattern my life
according to the model
that I myself have chosen
and never allow myself to be exploited
against the voice of my conscience
as a souless object.
I know that the earth
cannot be a perfect paradise,
but I wish to do my part
to thwart wrongdoing
and to promote what is beneficial.
