MINOR IN CHINESE (MANDARIN)
The Minor in Chinese will facilitate the acquisition of communicative competence in the Chinese language through the teaching of linguistic skills in Chinese and introduction to Chinese culture. Students with a Chinese Minor should be able to handle work situations in a variety of social settings. Students successfully completing this minor will develop proficiency in the use of various forms of the language (spoken and written, traditional and simplified characters) and will also acquire substantive knowledge about the culture and civilization of the country and its people, its roots and evolution.
Prerequisites: Completion of Elementary Chinese I & II and Intermediate Chinese I at Carnegie Mellon University
Curriculum: Students must complete the following language-specific
